GLORIA IDA CAMERON (nee HAMILTON) February 16, 1943 - October 21, 1999 It is with our deepest sorrow we announce the passing of our dear wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend Gloria. On Thursday, October 21, 1999 after a courageous battle with cancer our Angel was sent home. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband Ron; daughter Janice; sons Ron Jr. of Winnipeg, Jeff (Tammy) of Selkirk, Bob (friend Lorri), of Winnipeg; her parents Bill and Elsie Hamilton of Winnipeg; brother Bill (friend Mary) of Winnipeg and sisters, Pat (Pete) of Winnipeg, Teena of Toronto, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends and her special pet dog Pebbles. Her greatest joy and reason for living was her grandchildren, Jenn, T.J., Brett, Brady, Justin and Hailey, these children meant the world to her. Thank you for the special help from sister-in-law Jacqueline Chatwell of Winnipeg Beach. She will be sadly missed by her special friends Shirley and Roy. We all spent the last week together by Moms bedside and she showed us all how important we all are to her, preparing us all for her passing. During this time she made us laugh with her sense of humour and wit. She taught us that she will always be around us in spirit helping us to live on in her memory. You made believers out of all of us. In 1977 Mom and Dad started an automotive store in Beausejour, they worked together at this for many years. In 1978 we moved to Beausejour and made a new life here. She was also involved with many volunteer organizations and was a founding member of the Beausejour Lioness Club. This brought her so much joy to work with people and organize functions. She helped the kids with the after school bowling league and worked at East Gate Lodge for many years. Gloria touched so many lives. Our family would like to thank the Doctors who took care of her. Dr. Bow and the D-6 Ward of the HSC and to Dr. Dave Corder and the Staff of the Beausejour Hospital for the care and compassion shown to Gloria and to our family during her last days. A special thank you to Lisa Merke and Cook Stenia Wojcik for all that you did for Mom and us, we appreciate it more than you will ever know. Cremation has taken place and Memorial Services in Glorias memory will be held on Tuesday, October 26 at 11:00 a.m. from Russell Funeral Homes, Beausejour, Manitoba with Mac Dumcum officiating. If friends so desire memorial donations may be made to the Beausejour Hospital Palliative Care Unit. Mom wanted to raise money towards a blanket warmer so no one ever had to be cold. Those warm blankets comforted her so much. RUSSELL FUNERAL HOMES LTD. & CREMATORIUM, of Beausejour, Manitoba in care of arrangements. 1-204-268-2263. Courtesy parking available in the rear.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I will always remember Gloria with fondness - I looked forward to having conversation with her at the Beausejour 'shop' or enjoying one of her family dinners. My last conversation with Glo has 'stuck' with me - so honest, so brave. She put up a good fight against the cancer - and wanted to stick around to be with the grandkids; I will let Hailey know how much she cared, and how she wished we'd all just get along. The room she extended to myself and family that night in Garson, her acceptance and generosity will never be forgotten. Rest in Peace. xoxo - Posted by: Sandra Quarton (Mom to 'Hailey'(grand-daughter)) on: Nov 12, 2014
