He is also survived by his sisters Madeline (Emery) Houde, Elsie (Albert) Jacobs, Irene (Edward) Bonne, Alice (Bob) sister-in-law Georgette (Quinto) Pagnoni, and brother-in-law George Dhaene. In 1946 Robert married his devoted wife Yvonne and settled into sugar beat farming on Clarence Avenue in Fort Garry. In 1963 the family moved to St. Boniface, where he became employed at Allied Farm Equipment up until his retirement in 1983. Robert had many favorite pastimes, but his love for life was his fishing, where he got his nickname from as Fisherman Bob. Robert loved to talk to his grandson Mark about who got the bigger or most fish, and every other fish story that went along with it. He loved all his grandchildren very much and took pride in what ever they did. He especially loved to watch his grandchildren play hockey and would drive all the way to Killarney, Manitoba to watch a single game. Early in his life another favorite pastime of Roberts was raising pigeons and racing them against other pigeons in the clubs he belonged to. Robert had in his backyard numerous bird feeders where he loved to sit and watch his songbirds eat and drink. The family would like to express thanks to the Doctors and nursing staff at the St. Boniface Hospital for their kindness and care. Funeral Service will take place Tuesday October 26, at 1:00 p.m. in the P. Coutu Funeral Chapel, 156 Marion St., with Reverend Father Louis McCloskey officiating. Interment to follow in the Belgian Sacred Heart Cemetery. Fishermans Prayer God grant that I may live To fish until my dying day, And when it comes to my last cast I then most humbly pray: When in the Lords Safe landing net I am peacefully asleep, That in His mercy I be judged As big enough to keep.
