CORINNE WINSTONE On Friday, October 22, 1999 at the Victoria General Hospital, Corinne Winstone died peacefully, surrounded by her family. Corinne was predeceased by her brother, Vern in 1947; her mother Grace in 1972; her father Art in 1983, and her husband Albert LaFreniere in 1995. She is survived by three sisters, Elaine Black (Don), Joan Andries (Richard) and Donna Sainsbury (Peter) two brothers, Wayne (Betty Ann) and Don (Donna) 11 nieces and nephews; six great-nieces; her aunts, Mary Fleming and Shirley Winstone and numerous cousins. Corrine was born in the RM of Blanchard in 1934 and began school at Holylea. The family moved to Birtle and Corinne completed high school there. After Normal School, she began her teaching career at Mountbatten School. Corinnes career of 32 years was spent in schools in the St. Vital School Division with over 800 students passing through her classroom. We give thanks for Corinnes gifts: her passion for teaching children, her creativity expressed in beautiful crewel work and other hand work, her love of gardening and bridge, and her love of outdoors and walking. Corinne treasured her family and friends, with family gatherings being especially important to her. Funeral service will be held on Thursday October 28, at 2:00 pm in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1501 Waverley Street. A private family interment will take place at St. Vital Cemetery. The family wish to thank many people who cared for and visited Corinne during her illness. In particular, we would mention the staff of the Victoria General Hospital and Riverview Palliative Care Unit, The Home Care workers, her pharmacist Tim Ramsey, and a very special thanks to Dr. Casey Woo for his sensitive and caring attention to Corinne.
