LOUIS NEMETH (LAJOS NEMETH) December 21, 1918- October 18, 1999 PROUD MAGYAR, SOLDIER, POLICEMAN It is with great sadness that we must announce the sudden passing of our dear Father and Papa Louis in Papa, Hungary. He began his life in the village of Hungary called Nagyascad. As a man, his dedication to his country and his bravery as a Soldier caused him to be taken captive and held as a prisoner of war but he prevailed. Shortly thereafter, he met his loving wife Anna and they began a family. Because of his rank as a police officer, in 1956, he was forced to flee Hungary as political problems threatened his life and family. With his four children and Anna, he fled to Austria where their sixth child Eva was born. They moved to Canada where they made their new home, although he could never forget the country he was forced to leave. In Canada, he worked hard and struggled to support a large family. He was a proud Magyar, who took much pride in his culture and instilled that love in his children and grandchildren. He had a great love for wine, music, dancing, travelling, politics and playing Hungarian Cards. He had a zest for life which attracted a great number of friends from all walks of life. Although he was not Catholic, he had many lively debates with Father Szabo at St. Anthony of Padua Hungarian Church as to his conversion. He did though actively participate in his childrens Catholic religion and raised them to believe in the faith. He leaves to mourn his children, Louis (Jan), Alex (Irene), Anna (Dennis), Tibor (Bev), Eva (Warren) grandchildren, Nancy, Alex, Louis, Patrick, Robert (Melanie), Marilyn (Tony), Chris, Jenny, Elliott. He was predeceased by his loving wife Anna; baby Tibike; parents, brother and sisters. He is survived by special sister Marishka; two other sisters, Juliska, Kathi and special niece Karoline; along with many friends and relative in Hungary. His memory will live on forever. His funeral will take place in Hungary on October 28. We love you and will miss you Papa. May the Lord embrace him, forgive him of his faults. A memorial service will be held at the St. Anthony of Padua Hungarian Church, 365 Burnell St. on Wednesday, October 27 at 7:30 p.m. Father Paul as celebrant.
