Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryF. ROSS BROWNE On Saturday, October 16, 1999 Ross Browne (formerly of Winnipeg) passed away in Calgary at the age of 71 years. He is survived by his sons, Gerry (Jayne), Rob (Laura) daughter Leslie Carey (John) grandchildren, Breanna, Christopher and Emily Carey; brother,s Bob (Isla), Bill (Betty) and numerous step-children, nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends, especially Eleanor Steeg, Eileen Bredeson (who kept him on the straight and narrow), Bill and Shirley Taylor, Stan and Barb Hutton, George and Nancy Heath, Neil Taylor, as well as CSC associates and Winnipeg Sketch Club members. Ross was predeceased by his parents, Bill and Islay Browne; and twin sister Ruth Ayers. He was born in Norwood on August 15, 1928. Ross spent over 30 years as a respected member in the construction industry. He maintained an active role before and after his retirement in Construction Specifications Canada (CSC). He was President of CSC in 1975, named a Fellow in 1989, and was awarded Life Membership in 1992. He had received numerous accolades from CSC for his many contributions. His great loves in life were jazz music (both listening and playing), his Winnipeg Blue Bombers, involving himself in his familys pursuits, and especially his artwork. In the past ten years, he blossomed as an artist expecting to become famous posthumously. Ross was the ultimate Curmudgeon. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 28 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2H8 would be greatly appreciated.
