PETER ABRAHAM WIEBE Peter Abraham Wiebe passed away at the Bow Crest Care Centre on Thursday, October 21, 1999, at the age of 95 years. Peter Abraham Wiebe was born and raised on a farm at Horndean, near Plum Coulee, MB, the ninth child of seven boys and five girls born to Abram and Katharina (Dyck) Wiebe. At the age of 24, Peter came to faith in Christ and later, sensing the call of God on his life, enrolled at Winnipeg Bible Institute from which he graduated in 1931. While ministering with the Canadian Sunday School Mission, Peter met the local school teacher, Beatrice Pearl Shunk. They married September 7, 1935 at the Shunk home, Gilbert Plains, MB and continued ministering together under the CSSM, where Peter was Area Director for southern Manitoba. They moved on to pastorates in Spalding, SK, Calgary, AB, 100 Mile House and Alberni, BC, Yacolt, Washington, Kelowna and Blue River, BC. Rev. Wiebe retired to Kelowna where, for several years he was a relief preacher in the Okanagan area. Until 1988 he continued to minister through the distribution of Our Daily Bread booklet each month delivering 400 copies door-to-door as well as mailing copies to friends. Predeceased by his wife Beatrice Pearl in 1992, Peter Wiebe is survived by his two daughters, Rosalie Wiebe of Calgary, AB and Kay (Gary) Arnold of Sun City, California; one sister, Helen Penner of Plum Coulee, MB; grandchildren, Melanie (Richard) Baum and Andrea Arnold of St. Louis, Missouri, Luke (Amy) Arnold of Naples, Florida; and great-granddaughters, Lauren, Emily and Sydney Baum; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Monday, October 25 at 11:00 a.m. from Jacques Funeral Chapel, 12700 Macleod Tr., S. with the Rev. Robert Smith of West Calgary Full Gospel Church officiating. Following the reception at Jacques Funeral Home, family and friends gathered at Queens Park Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. for the interment service.
