DOUGLAS HAIG McCASKILL Peacefully on October 26, 1999 at the St. Boniface Hospital, Doug, beloved husband of Phyllis, passed away. Doug is survived by his loving wife Phyllis; his daughter Derrelyn Reinfort (Dee), husband Adolf (Otto) grandchildren, Kurt and Lisa; daughter Marcia Doiron, husband Bob; grandchildren, Jean-Guy and James; son Ron, fiancee Dianne and Rons children, Jacqueline and Clayton. He is also survived by his sisters, Mae Butterfield of MacGregor and Doris Green of Thunder Bay, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Bessie Andrews, Myrtle Stiller and Ethel Russell and brothers, Neil and George. Doug was born in the Norfolk District of Manitoba to parents Colin and Mabel. As a young man he worked on various farms. He joined the army and served during the Second World War with the Calgary Tanks. He was captured at Dieppe and was a Prisoner of War. After the war he returned to Winnipeg and married Phyllis MacNab whom he met while in Fort William. He was employed with Pelissiers Brewery and later Labatts Brewery. He was a member for many years at the Fort Rouge Legion. Phyllis and Doug enjoyed their cottage at Sunset Beach and he was an avid gardener who shared his bright displays with everyone. They loved travelling and visited places like Sun City, Arizona, Portugal, Mexico, Hawaii and Australia. The family wishes to thank the staff of St. Boniface Hospital, especially Eleanor in Intensive Care. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 29 at 1:00 p.m at Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway with Rev. Peter Douglas officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinsons Foundation of Canada, 390 Bay St., #710, P.O. Box 19341, Toronto, ON, M7Y 3M1 or to a charity of ones choice.
