MARIA GUDLAUG LEARNED (KRISTJANSON) August 8, 1919 - October 26, 1999 With family at her side, Maria passed away peacefully on October 26, 1999 at Riverview Health Centre. Maria was predeceased by her husband Charles; parents, Elin and Hannes Kristjanson; brothers, Burbank, Albert, and Kristjan; brother-in-law Monty and sister-in-law Helen. She is survived by her daughter Mary Hildebrand (Jerry), her son Harold Learned (Cathy) her sister Alda, brothers, Baldur, Leo (Jean), Ragnur (Helen) sisters-in-law, Lois, Joan and Farida; grandchildren, Kathy (Kevin), Kris (Cori), Keli, David Learned, Daryl; and great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Thomas, Carly, Adam, Sara, and Tyler (TJ). Maria was born and raised in Gimli, MB. After graduating from high school she moved to Ottawa where she worked for the government during the Second World War. It was here that she met, and later married Charles. They lived in St. Johns, Montreal, North Bay, and Gimli before moving to and residing with their children in Winnipeg. Maria worked for Manufacturers Life and Empire Life until her retirement. Maria most enjoyed her time spent in her beloved Gimli with her family, watching the lake, and walking along the beach collecting lucky stones. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Riverview Health Centre, and special thanks to Olive, Amy, Scarlet, Angele, Lynette, Laurel, Carol, Aurora, and chaplain Gerry Bradford. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 30 at 1:00 p.m. in the Riverview Health Centre, 1 Morley Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
