EDWARD COUTTS BURNETT Ed passed away peacefully at the Health Sciences Centre on Tuesday, October 26, 1999. Ed is survived by two daughters, Virginia Burnett and husband Jim Elliott of Winnipeg and Constance Anne Burnett Alton and husband Bill of St. Albert, Alberta. He is also survived by grandchildren, Daniel Brautigan and Christopher and Adrienne Alton, as well as his brother John Burnett of Winnipeg. Ed was predeceased by Virginia and Connies mother, Olivia. He was born May 27, 1921 to Elizabeth and John Burnett in Aberdeen, Scotland. After the family moved to Canada, Ed was raised in the West End of Winnipeg and graduated from Daniel McIntyre High School. Ed served with the Royal Canadian Navy as Yeoman of Signals during the Second World War, his last ship being the HMCS Outremont. He was a life member of the Chiefs and Petty Officers Mess of HMCS Chippawa and a member of the White Ensign Club. He was also a member of Club 60 Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans in Canada and of the Shriners. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 30 at 3:00 p.m. at Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway. In lieu of flowers, donations in Eds memory may be made to a charity of ones choice.
