ARTHUR T. FLEXMAN It is with great sadness that the family of Arthur Flexman announces his passing on October 24, 1999 at the Riverdale Hospital in Rivers, Manitoba. Arthur was predeceased by his wife Winona (Willie) and brother Ken. He leaves to mourn his daughter Sandra Southam of Winnipeg; grandson Ernest (Charlene) Southam; great-grandchildren, James, Cody, Stacie, Carie; granddaughter Kim (Dave) Torgerson; great-grandchildren Tasia and Wade, and very special friend Graeme Coopland. Arthur was born November 27, 1907 to Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Flexman. After leaving home Arthur worked up north as a Survey Companys timekeeper, then with a Northern Mineral Exploration Company. Arthur then moved to Winnipeg and worked with the Winnipeg Fire Department till 1939 when he joined the Army. Arthur served with the 15th Light Anti- Aircraft Battery, part of the 2nd. Canadian Infantry. When the war ended Arthur returned home to his wife and reclaimed his job with the Fire Department. Arthur retired in 1965. For the next six years he worked as a ice maker in the River Heights Arena. After retirement Arthur had time to spend at Falcon Lake where he built a cabin high on the rocks, over looking the lake. Arthur helped form the Falcon Yacht Club and in 1968 was the Commodore of the Falcon Yacht Club. He enjoyed sailing, fishing, and the wild life, everything the lake offered him. Arthur was a also known for the fishing lures he made. He would spend hours making them for anyone who enjoyed fishing as much as him. A Service Of Remembrance will take place on Saturday, November 6, at 2:00 P.M. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1858 Portage Avenue. Arthur will be sadly missed by everyone who met him, but never will be forgotten. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fire Fighters Burn Fund, Inc. 202-666 St. James St., Winnipeg, Manitoba. R3G 3J6 FISHERMANS PRAYER God grant that I may live to fish until my dying day, And when it comes to my last cast I then most humbly pray: When in the Lords safe landing net I am peacefully asleep, That in his mercy I be judged as big enough to keep.
