IRENE DORIS LEWIS On October 27, 1999 at the Health Sciences Centre, Doris Lewis, aged 73 years, of Selkirk, MB. Doris was born in Petersfield, MB on July 29, 1926 and had lived all her life in Selkirk. She had been employed at the Selkirk Mental Health Centre for 20 years retiring in 1979, due to disability. Doris was a kind and generous lady who was always helping others. Doris was predeceased by her husband Lawrence John (Dick) her parents, Allan and Mary Meccas; a son Charles; sisters, Sarah, Margaret and Jean, and a brother Joe. She leaves surviving a son Harvey (Lydia) Mann, a daughter Rose (Sid) Krippeler; brother Patrick Meccas, sister Ethel Flett, all of Winnipeg; three grandchildren, Louella, Robert and Allan and a great-granddaughter Kelsey. She also leaves numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Her pallbearers will be Gordon Raven, Dennis Johnston, Marvin Smith, Lawrence Smith, Robert Mann and Allan Mann. Prayers will be said on Sunday, October 31 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk. Funeral service will be held on Monday, November 1 at 11:00 a.m. also in the chapel. Coffee will then be served at the Friendship Center followed by the interment at Grand Marais at 2:00 p.m. On Doris behalf the family would like to thank many special friends for their care and compassion during the last part of her journey. Special thanks to Eva, Susan and Janice on RR-6 at the Rehab, the staff at Health Sciences Centre Floor 5 and all the dedicated home care workers, especially Susie throughout the years in Selkirk and the Central Park Lodge.
