RUTH ELONLA SCHNELL (nee SCHWAB) After a courageous battle with cancer, Ruth Schnell passed away on October 28, 1999 in Steinbach, Manitoba at the age of 74 years. She was born on August 25, 1925 in Overstone, Manitoba. She married Fred Schnell on October 10, 1944. They resided on a farm in Tolstoi area throughout their lives together. After her husbands death she moved from the farm and lived in St. Pierre and St. Malo where she lived until present. She is survived by her children, Ron (Jan) Schnell of Tolstoi, Delores (Robert) Jacobson of Arborg, Ken (Judy) Schnell of Strathmore, Alta., Ross (Lee) Schnell of Frobisher, Sask., Joan (Ed) Halama of Winnipeg, Val (Wayne) Fontaine of Woodridge and Theresa (Louis) Courcelles of St. Malo; 18 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; eight sisters; two brothers and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Fred Schnell; son Kenneth; grandsons, Bradley and Matthew; great-granddaughter Hope and two brothers, Reinhold and Henry. Special thanks to the staff in the Chemo Department, Main floor nursing staff, Dr. Ilchyna of Bethesda Hospital, and home care workers that took care of mom. The funeral service will be held on Monday, November 1 at 2:00 p.m. in Zion Lutheran Church, Friedenstahl, Man. with the Reverend Andrew Hinwood officiating, with interment in the Overstone Cemetery. Prayer service will be held on Sunday, October 31 at 2:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Dr., Steinbach, Man. Ruth was a great mom and grandma. She created many special memories for her family members. Her unspoken love was shown by her gentle loving care to all. Her unselfish nature was recognized and appreciated by everyone.
