ANASTIA (NELLIE) STARANCHUK (KRAKALOVICH) 1915 - 1999 With her loving family by her side Mom went to be with her husband Mike and infant son Donnie. Nellie was born in Arran, Saskatchewan, the second oldest of 13 children. In July of 1942 she married Mike Staranchuk and they moved to Winnipeg where they raised their family. Mom was a devoted wife and mother and her life revolved around her family. She was a talented seamstress and she also crocheted, knitted, embroidered and cross stitched many beautiful articles until her health prevented her from doing what she loved. She also loved to read and play cards with her family. The past few years were very difficult for mom as her health deteriorated, but she never complained and only worried about the hardships she was placing on her family. Mom was a very loving, gentle, compassionate and wonderful person and we will miss her. Nellie is survived by her son Brian (Val) daughters, Rose Marie (Mike), Joy Ann (Lawrence), Donna (Tom) 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Ann, Bessie, Beatrice, Mary, Dorothy and Sally; brother Steve. Prayers will be said on Tuesday, November 2 at 7:00 p.m. at Knysh Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 3 at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. E. Hafichuk officiating. Interment All Saints Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Carol, Joel, Aiden, Todd, Deanna and Sean. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation, or lend a helping hand. Anything to make the world just a little bit better for someone else. We love and miss you Mom.
