Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT BRUCE RISK 1927 - 1999 With great sadness the family of Robert Bruce Risk of Winnipeg, announces his passing on Saturday, October 30, 1999. Robert (Bob) is predeceased by his mother Lucille and his father George P. Risk of Winnipeg. He leaves to mourn his wife of 48 years, Elizabeth and his five children, Paul (Catherine) Risk, Michael (Barbara Jo) Risk, Mary Margaret (Allan) Vander Kraake, Kathy Risk and Patricia (Jules) Giasson. Grandpa will be missed by his eight grandchildren, Ryan, Ashley, Kevin, Matthew, Andrew, Lisa, Jaclyn and Adam. He also leaves to mourn his only sister Barbara Anderson of Pitt Meadows, BC and many friends and relatives. Bob was born and educated in Winnipeg and at the age of 17 left home to begin an apprenticeship as an Electrical Machinist with Canadian Westinghouse Company in Hamilton, ON. There he met and married Elizabeth (Betty), worked his way across Canada from coast to coast and retired after 45 years of service in 1989. Semi-retired, he began a consulting business and operated it until very recently. In 1977, Bob joined the Knights of Columbus, eventually becoming a Grand Knight and later serving as Faithful Navigator. He recently served on State as Church Director. He was an active member of the Serra Club and was also very actively involved in his home parish of John XXIII for 31 years. He enjoyed outdoor sports such as cross-country skiing, football, swimming in his backyard pool and golfing. His love of travel and country took him to many parts of Canada both for work and pleasure and his many trips with the family were his most memorable. The family would like to thank the medical staff of the Grace General Hospital Oncology Clinic for their kindness and compassion, in particular, Dr. Jan Mulder, Nurses Laurie Read, Marie and Dale, as well as Dr. Paul Daeninck, his nurse Anne and Dr. Marcelo Garcia at the St. Boniface Cancer Care Manitoba Clinic. Special thanks also to Rev. Mr. Gary McCallum and Rev. Father Raphael Glofcheski for their spiritual support. Prayers will be held on Tuesday, November 2 at 8:00 p.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Wednesday, November 3 at 11:00 a.m., both taking place at John XXIII Roman Catholic Church, Assiniboia Christian Centre, 3390 Portage Ave. Monsignor Norman Chartrand officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB. Your suffering is over. May you be comforted in the arms of your loving Father.
