DEREK CHALMERS Derek, 29 years old, beloved father of Aveary, 7 years, Brennan, 3 years and Naomi, 16 months passed away, Saturday, October 23, 1999 in Brandon, MB. Derek was predeceased by his father William Chalmers. He leaves behind his mother Betty Chalmers; his brothers, William Chalmers, Kenneth Chalmers, Robert Chalmers, Edward Chalmers, Stuart Chalmers and Quentin Chalmers, sisters, Margaret Adams, Angela Chalmers, and Gloria Rach. Derek was born in Brandon, MB on June 7, 1970. He was raised in Shilo, MB and Nanaimo, BC. He was a naturally gifted athlete who excelled in all sports, particularly hockey and baseball. Derek played hockey in the MJHL for Southeast Thunderbirds. He also played locally for Sioux Valley and Oak Lake. He played baseball and softball for Sioux Valley and Birtle. Derek was proud to be one of the first employees of the new Maple Leaf Plant in Brandon. Derek was a proud and loving father and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A traditional wake was held in Sioux Valley on October 26 with Mr. Leslie Hotain and Wilfred Blacksmith officiating. Funeral services were October 27 in Sioux Valley with Rev. Paul Ryu officiating. Interment followed at the Brandon Cemetery. A trust fund in Dereks name has been set up for his children at the TD Bank, 915 Rosser Ave., Brandon.
