Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLUCIEN (LOU) ALPHONSE VERMETTE It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dearly beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Lucien (Lou) Alphonse Vermette. Lou passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 30, 1999 at the age of 74 years. Lou was born in St. Pierre, MB on December 13, 1924. Lou and his family moved to Brandon, MB in 1965 where he opened Brandon Frozen Foods and in 1981 he purchased the Midway Motel. Lou was a very active member of the community serving with the Knights of Columbus, Kiwanis Club, U.C.T. and worked for many charitable foundations. Lou spent many special times with his friends and family. He especially enjoyed golfing with his sons and snowmobiling with his daughter. Lou loved to spend time with family and friends at his most special place - the cottage in Clear Lake, MB. Lou loved to be around people and spent four years working at Wal-Mart as a Greeter. He always held a special place in his heart for those he worked with. Lou is survived by his wife Denise of 47 years; two sons, Gil (Sandra) of Germany, Bob of Billings, Montana; daughter Monique (Robert) Miller of Calgary, AB; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by two brothers, Ted Vermette of Brandon, and Tony Vermette of Red Lake, ON; five sisters, Augustines Abraham, Elsie Tellier, Francis Lemay, all of Winnipeg, MB, Irene Lagimodiere of Lorette, MB and Estelle Tellier of Thunder Bay, ON. Lou loved his family dearly and always encouraged them to live their dreams and to always be happy in life. He was very proud of all of the accomplishments. In accordance with Lous wishes, cremation has taken place and burial will take place at a later date. A funeral mass will be held at St. Augustines Roman Catholic Church, 327 4th St., Brandon, on Wednesday, November 3 at 11:00 a.m., with Fr. Rainerio Sarce officiating. Donations in memory of Lucien may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 203 - 42 McTavish Ave. E., Brandon, MB R7A 2B2. Arrangements are in care of Brockie Donovan, Brandon, 727-0694.
