Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBEATRICE PHYLLIS STEWART (nee KINCAID) Peacefully, on October 30, 1999, with her family by her side, at the E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital in Eriksdale, Beatrice Stewart, aged 88 years, of Ashern, MB. Beatrice was born in Alberta on November 19, 1910, where she met and married her husband Jack. They later moved to Winnipeg and resided there until 1934, when they came to Ashern and homesteaded in the Idylwild School District. After her husbands death, she moved into Ashern. In 1956, she moved to Winnipeg and worked at various jobs until she was hired as a practical nurse at the Winnipeg General Hospital, where she was employed until she retired in 1975, and returned home to Ashern. Her beautiful crochet work, knitting and flower gardens were well known by all in the community. She is survived by her five sons, Jack (Jane), Jim (Liz), Dick (Shirley), Lawrence (Jan), and Cliff, four daughters, Vivian Kirichenko, June (Ken) Geisler, Audrey Miller, and Babe (Matt) Baker; along with 36 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Jack (John) in 1952; her son Douglas in 1968; granddaughter Holly Stewart in 1981, granddaughter Kim Geisler in 1997; daughter-in-law Lorna in 1957; son-in-law Maurice Miller in 1997, and son-in-law Walter Kirichenko in 1998. Friends and relatives may pay their respects between 7:00 and 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 5 at the Arnason Funeral Home in Ashern. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 6 at the Ashern Legion Hall with Melanie Kauppila officiating. Interment to follow in the Ashern United churchyard cemetery. Crossbearer will be Matthew Hollingshead. Active pallbearers will be Allan Stewart, Doug Baker, Donnie Miller, Blake Geisler, Ronnie Stewart and James Spencer. Everyone in attendance can consider themselves honourary pallbearers. Special thanks to Dr. Piesas of Ashern, Dr. Steyn, Dr. Ward, and the staff at the Eriksdale Hospital and Personal Care Home, also to Patsy Klyne and the Ashern home care workers for the wonderful care you gave our mother over the years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Eriksdale Personal Care Home, care of Sharon Monkman, Box 130, Eriksdale, MB R0C 0W0. Arrangements by: Arnason Funeral Homes Ltd. This was my great-grandmother. I don't remember much about her but she was a nice lady. She was known as Granny Stewart to me. She reminded me of my own grandma, her daughter June. They both ended up in the same manor, albeit decades apart. Most of her children have passed on now. Jim is still alive.
