BLANCHET Peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer, Rudy passed away on Monday, November 1, 1999 at the Riverview Health Centre at the age of 72 years. Predeceased by his wife Bernadette (Bernice) on November 26, 1998, Rudy leaves to cherish his memory his son Denis of Ottawa, ON, daughter Monique (Peter) Attwood of Winnipeg, son Robert of Abbotsford, BC and two granddaughters, Sara and Jennifer Attwood. Rudy is also survived by his sisters, Anita Campeau and Jeannine Carriere, brothers, Romeo and Leon Blanchette; as well as numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews. Dads family was always very important to him. A generous person by nature, he was always willing to lend a hand. He was employed by the federal government for over 30 years, initially with Transport Canada and later with Indian and Northern Affairs. Following his retirement in 1988, he was able to pursue his great love of travel and he enjoyed his winter home in Pharr, Texas. He enjoyed many hobbies over the years, including photography and genealogy. Funeral mass for Rudy will be concelebrated by Fathers, Rene Peeters and Isaie Blanchette on Thursday, November 4 at the St. Emile Roman Catholic Church, St. Annes Rd. and Bishop Grandin, at 2:30 p.m. The service will terminate at the church and cremation will follow. Interment of Rudys cremated remains will take place at a later date. The family extends sincere thanks to relatives and friends who offered their support during our fathers illness. Special thanks to the staff at the Riverview Health Centre for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so may make a donation in Rudys memory to the Riverview Health Centre, 1 Morley Ave., Winnipeg, R3L 2P4 or to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, R3C 9Z9, or to a charity of ones choice.
