WILFRED CHARLES JAMES (LAVY) LAKE Passed away in Edmonton on November 1, 1999. He is survived by his wife Margaret Lavinia Lake; son Wilfred Lake (Denise) and children, Lori Hinsberger (Robin) and Scott Lake (Karin) all of Calgary, daughter Cheryl Herr (Bob) and children, Sheila Carins (Colin) and children, Christopher and Jeffrey, Robbie Herr and son Jamie Waldo-Herr, all of Red Deer and daughter Geraldine Sarapuk (Peter) and children, Curtis, Krista and Kari, all of Edmonton. He is also survived by one sister Mavis Yarwood of Gimli, brother Alvin Lake (Helen) of Edmonton, brother Alf Lake (Betty) of Winnipeg; brother-in-law Ken Rutherford of Edmonton, sister-in-law Dorothy Edwards of Langley, BC; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his father Frederick George Lake in 1949, mother Winifred Alice Ellen Lake in 1972; brother-in-law Harold Yarwood, sister-in-law Olga Rutherford and brother-in-law Maynard Edwards. He was born in Winnipeg, MB on July 12, 1917. On August 17, 1940 he married Margaret Lavinia Edwards. He began his work career at Canada Bread. He joined the Navy and is a veteran of the Second World War. He served on the Winnipeg Police Force for seven years. He rejoined the Navy in 1953 for one year. In 1954 he started working for the Alberta Corrections System. He retired from Fort Saskatchewan Gaol as Acting Warden in 1975. He moved to Vulcan where he worked for his son for several years. In 1991 he moved to Red Deer and then in 1992 moved to Edmonton and Emmanuel Home where he resided until he was hospitalized in July of 1999. He has made a positive impact on the lives of many people. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all his family and friends. The family would like to thank the staff of Unit 4C at Glenrose Hospital and the staff of Unit 61 of the Royal Alexandra Hospital. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice. Funeral service to be held on Saturday, November 6 at St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church at 5003-146 Ave., Edmonton at 3:00 p.m.
