Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryOLIVE MILDRED HELEN PHILPOTT (nee MITCHELL) November 30, 1920 - October 31, 1999 Peacefully on Sunday, October 31, 1999 at Riverview Health Centre, with family by her side. Olive will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 50 years, Henry; children, Linda and Jim Colman (Sean and Stacey), Brian and Linda (Carri and husband Karl Gradt and Jeff), Lyle and Gwen (Michelle and Michael), Grant, Joanne and Randy Brinkman (Kristie and fiance Mark Lewis and Candace), Neil (Melissa), Georgia Laing (Brad), and sister-in-law Betty Mitchell and numerous nieces and nephews. Olive enjoyed the time spent in their trailer whether travelling or as in the last few years in the Northland Trailer Park, also she loved fishing and participated for years in the fishing derbies at Wendigo and Poplar Bay. Trips to the casino (both local, Las Vegas or Shooting Star) were a favourite as well as a good game of bingo or cards. Until ill health forced her to quit, Olive enjoyed her association with the Sons of Scotland Cribbage League and the Wheelchair Bowling at Academy Lanes. Her home was always filled with wonderful plants. When her children were younger, Olive volunteered at Orioles Community Centre. As well, she was a canvasser for the United Way, Cancer and Heart drives for years. Olive fought her illness with braveness and dignity. Sincere thanks to the staff of VON and Riverview Health Centre (3 East) for their kind compassion and care during this difficult time. A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 6 at 12:30 p.m. with interment to follow. Relatives and friends are invited afterwards to the Chapel Lawn Reception Centre.
