Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES EDWARD ROBERT (JIM) HARRIS Peacefully at the District Memorial Hospital, Tillsonburg, Ontario on November 2, 1999, James Edward Robert (Jim) Harris age 77 years formerly of Winnipeg. Jim was born in Winnipeg on June 13, 1922. He later served in the Royal Canadian Navy for 15 years and saw both active war-time and peace-time service. During the war Jim participated in combined operations in Normandy, Italy and North Africa. He retired as Chief Petty Officer. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Navy Association, the Royal Canadian Legion No. 153, Tillsonburg, and a member of St. Johns Anglican Church. Jim was a retired Ontario Association technician and technologist and also a retired Ontario government inspector for Consumer and Commercial Relations. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years Eileen L. (Hicks) Harris; his loving children son David (Susan) Harris, Calgary; daughter Patricia husband (Grant) Armstrong, Kingston and son Robert E. and wife Rhonda Harris, Calgary; six granddaughters, Jennifer Harris, twins Kelly and Nicole Armstrong, Robyn, Rachel and Roslin Harris. He is also survived by his sister Ethel and husband Wilfred Blier, London, ON; brother Ronald and wife Ruth of White Rock, BC., sister Elizabeth and husband Vernon Smith, Winnipeg and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Edward L. and Adelaide Mary Harris and also grandson Michael Harris. At the request of the deceased there will be no funeral service. Cremation and private service to take place in Burlington, ON. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Salvation Army through Verhoeve Funeral Home, 262 Broadway, Tillsonburg, ON., who are in charge of arrangements.
