WASYL (WILLIAM / BILL) KOHUT September 26, 1913 - November 4, 1999 Died in the Kelowna General Hospital with his family by his side, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. In 1940, Bill married Mary Huska in Souris, MB where they raised seven children. Bill was a successful farmer, feedlot operator and business man. Throughout his lifetime, he was a member of the Souris Town Council, the Souris Hospital Board, Manitoba Pool Elevator, Director of the Canadian Landres Association, member of the Manitoba Stock Growers Association and the Souris Curling Club. Bill was a past President of the Kiwanis Club in Souris, MB and Kelowna for 45 years. Bill and Mary retired to Kelowna with sons, Allan and Roger in 1968, but being an active farmer it was difficult to sit still, so he got busy in business ventures once more, operating a Shell Service Station and Hertz Car Rentals. Dad and Mom have spent the past 20 years wintering in Desert Hot Springs and in between time travelling world wide. Dads first priority was his family and every year Mom and Dad ventured across Canada in their motorhome visiting family, extended families and numerous friends. Bill is survived by Mary, his wife of 59 years; three daughters, Beth (Cece) Dawley, Iris (Ray) Jackson, all of Kelowna, Irene (Bill) Pollard, Calgary; four sons, Jim (Bette-Jean), Souris, Tom (Maureen) Kamloops, Allan (Judy), Toronto, ON, Roger (Susan), London, ON; 13 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother Anton (Audrey) Kohut; one sister Anne Parham; sisters-in-law, Joan Kohut, Elsie Kohut, Alexis Kaushakis, Pauline (Jonn) Palmer; brothers-in-law, Mike (Irene) Huska, Ed (Lillian) Huska; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Predeceased by three brothers, John, Mike and Harry; brothers-in-law Ken Parham and John Kaushakis and great-grandson Brandon. "Dad cherished life to the fullest." We will miss him dearly! His knowledge, courage, strength, love and above all generosity have been an inspiration to all his family and friends. A Celebration of Bills life will be held Saturday, November 6 at 1:00 p.m. with visitation 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna.
