EILEEN GRACE SIMONS (OWEN) Born in Bristol, UK on June 22, 1919, Eileen passed away peacefully on October 13, 1999 in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario. She was predeceased by her dearly beloved husband William James Simons in 1986, and by her parents Alice and Edwin Owen. She is survived by her son, Dr. Keith Simons, (Dr. Estelle Simons) of Winnipeg; her daughter Dr. Elinor Simons of Madison, Wisconsin, Christopher Simons of Oxford, UK and Deryck Dowding and his fiancee Johanna Nelson of Sault Ste Marie. Her children and grandchildren are grateful for her love and inspiration and will cherish her memory always. A gracious, kind and articulate lady, Eileen will also be affectionately remembered by her many lifelong friends and colleagues, especially those in the Salvation Army, the Grace Hospital Auxiliary and the Government of Manitoba Correctional Services Department. A Service of Thanksgiving celebrating her life will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, on November 12 at 7:00 p.m. with a reception to follow. A Memorial Service was held in Sault Ste Marie on October 25, 1999. The Simons and Dowding families wish to express sincere thanks for the many tributes to Eileen they have received. "Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever."
