He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Maria; daughters Mary Cobb (Douglas), Jean Enns and Helen Waugh and son Allen Zajac (Janice). Filip Zajac was born in Berlin, Austria on November 25, 1900 and emigrated to Canada in 1920. He began working for the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1921 and retired in November 1965 after 44 years of service. During these years he was an avid curler in the winter and devoted many hours to his flower gardens in the summer, gardens which won him numerous regional C.P.R. awards. Grampa also loved to collect Inuit carvings and enjoyed sharing his collection with his family. The old cottage at West Hawk Lake was a favourite summer destination as he had lots of jobs to do out there. When it came time to relax, he loved to take the grandkids out in the Peterborough. Family was always a priority for him. He especially loved to spoil all the grandchildren. He was a kind, gentle and generous grandfather who visited them all in turn. After retiring, he spent many winters in Southern California with the Enns family where he loved the ocean, the sunshine and the orange trees. A Funeral Service for family and friends of Filip Zajac will be held on Tuesday, November 9 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers will be Lionel Enns, Jamie Zajac and Phil Zajac. Active pallbearers will be his son Allen Zajac, nephew Bill Zack and grandsons, Murray Cobb, Dr. Greg Enns, Craig Waugh and Rob Waugh. A special thanks to Dr. B. A.
