DOROTHY EVELYN McCARTNEY (McNAMARA) It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Mother on November 5, 1999 at the age of 87 years. Dorothy was predeceased by her loving husband George in 1980; also by brothers, Norman and Gordon; and sister Phyllis. She will be lovingly remembered by her three sons, George (Pat), Ken (Virginia), Geoff (Jennifer) along with nine grandchildren, Doug (Sharon), Heather (Bryan), Blair (Jacquie), Shawn (Tanya), Shannon (Glyn), Shane, Melissa, Michelle, Matthew; and four great-grandchildren, Mark, Scott, Haley and Andrew; three sisters, Edna, Lillian, Gladys; two sisters-in-law, Leilah, Marge; and many nephews, nieces and cousins. Our Mother and Father both spent many wonderful years at their cottage in Malachi, Ontario where they had many close friendships. Mom was able to share her time with us at the Lake every summer. Space and words could never convey how much she treasured her every minute at the cottage. A cup of tea and sitting in her rocking chair in the verandah overlooking the lake, or spending evenings playing cards with friends and family were among her many joys. Mom was active her entire life, right until the end. She spent the last several years at Lions Place where she was involved with many activities including the RAP program, White Elephant Sale, and others. Mom was also a long time member of St. Thomas Parish. Mom was never a person to assume a minor role in a chore she took on. She would commit a great deal of her time and energy in every activity she became involved with. Mom worked for many years in the China department at Eatons. She always had a strong appreciation for fine china. The Family would like to thank Dr. Brendan MacDougall for the care and attention he provided to our mother over the years. Should friends so desire, donations may be made to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3B 2H8. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday November 10 at 11:00 a.m., from St. Thomas Anglican Church, 1567 William Ave., visitation one hour prior. Rev. Kenn Garrity officiating. Cremation to follow. BARDAL FUNERAL HOME 843 Sherbrook Street, 774-7474
