HELEN (ELLA) HASSAN (nee Ligertwood) May 16, 1920 - November 6, 1999 Peacefully surrounded by her children and family, at the St. Boniface Hospital, our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend went into the loving arms of God her Father in Heaven. Ella was predeceased by her husband William; her parents; three brothers, and her sister. She is survived by her sister Margaret of Edmonton and several sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Ellas family was of the utmost importance to her. Her love for her daughter Lynn Veters (Vic) and her son Keith Hassan (Joyce) her seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren was felt like the summer sun on their faces. Mothers last working years were spent at the Belgium Pastry Shop until she retired in 1970. Upon retirement Mom led a very active life, volunteering at the Red Cross, St. Boniface and Victoria Hospitals, and canvassing for several charitable organizations. Her favourite pastimes were bowling, swimming, line dancing and long walks. Ella loved to travel and wherever she went she made new friends. But most important of all was the time she spent with her family and friends. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 10 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street. Interment Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the Glen Eden Reception Centre. You were always there when we needed you, No task was too great of small. With a loving heart and a willing hand For us you did it all Thanks for the years you gave us and for the times we shared We only pray that when you left us You knew how much we cared. God saw you getting tired when a cure was not to be So He put His arms around you and whispered "Come with Me." REST IN PEACE MOM Donations in Ellas memory may be made to a charity of ones choice. Our sincere thanks to the Winnipeg Fire Department and Ambulance Service and staff of the St. Boniface SICU for their care and compassion to Mom and her family. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN EDEN FUNERAL HOME 4477 Main Street 338-7111
