Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMIKE EVANCHUK October 19, 1919 - November 8, 1999 Mike passed away peacefully after a long struggle with Alzheimers Disease. His loving family was at his side. Left to mourn his passing and celebrate his life are his wife Louisa and children, Michael, Kathy Cranston (Terry), Lisa Audziss (Adam) and his beloved grandchildren, Shelley and Tannis Evanchuk, Colleen, Shawn and Andrea Cranston and Dustin Audziss. Also surviving is daughter-in-law Lee Evanchuk, godchild Cindy Hall and many nieces and nephews. Mike was predeceased by both parents and his two brothers, Raymond and John. In Mikes younger years, he enjoyed playing hockey for the Winnipeg Monarchs Junior Team, where he won the Schlingerman trophy three years in a row as outstanding goalie. He also enjoyed coaching hockey and officiating as an umpire at baseball games. One of his greatest delights was to watch his grandchildren in their many activities which included hockey, baseball, Ukrainian dancing and singing. Besides taking in all sporting activities around town, he also enjoyed going to the courthouse and watching all the trials. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 12. A celebration of his life will take place on Wednesday, November 10 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Albans Cathedral, 312 Main St. S., Kenora, Ont. Burial will take place at the Redditt Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimers Society. "Rest in Peace Gee-Gee, we will miss you."
