FRANK DUVAL NIXON TROUGHTON July 3, 1921 - November 7, 1999 After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Dad passed away peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital, Palliative Care Unit. Frank is survived by his son Gerry, Karen and grandchildren Ramsey and Alexandra, of Saskatoon; daughter Judy, Gary and grandchildren Ryan and Trevor Hudey of Winnipeg. He was predeceased by his loving wife Joyce in 1996. Dad was born, educated, married and started his family in Winnipeg. In 1953 he was transferred to Brandon with Coca-Cola and later worked for the Province of Manitoba Department of Labour. While in Brandon, Frank was active in different clubs, curling leagues, seniors groups and his main past time in retirement was golf. They enjoyed winters with family and friends in California until health gave out. For many years Dad was a hard working Volunteer with the Cancer Society. He could be seen riding his bike around town, picking up coin boxes. Then mum and dad spent hours rolling the coins. Dad took much joy in spending many quality hours playing with his grandchildren. He was a great Father and Grandfather to all of us. As with Dads wishes cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Johns Cathedral, 135 Anderson, Winnipeg, 3:00 p.m. on Friday, November 12. Interment to be immediately after in family plot. Celebration of Life to follow at Garden City Inn. DAD you family loves you and will miss you very much, but take comfort in knowing you and Mum are together again in eternity, to live peacefully without pain and suffering forever. Thank you to all the staff at the St. Boniface Palliative Unit. Your guidance, kind words and smiles were so appreciated. You are a very dedicated group. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dads memory to the Manitoba Cancer Research Department, 100 Olivia St., Winnipeg, R3E 0V9. Cropo Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements, 586-8044.
