JOHN TEDDY POTTER On November 10, 1999, John Teddy Potter peacefully passed away into the loving arms of the Lord at the age of 78 years. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Marie; daughter Marilyn of Winnipeg; son Gregory and wife Janet of Winnipeg; daughter Deanna and husband Wayne Buck of Winnipeg; nine grandchildren, Lindsay Loomer, Dana and Scott Horne, Jennifer, Daniel and Jonathan Potter, Gordon, Andrew and Matthew Buck; numerous nephews and nieces and two sisters, Anne Cahoon and Pat (Jadie) San Filippo, and special friends Mike and Kathy Spack. John as a very loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was involved in numerous organizations and associations. He served in the RCAF as a pilot overseas in the Second World War. He began his teaching career with Winnipeg School Division in 1949 and retired as Assistant Superintendent of River East School Division in 1978. His involvement in coaching football started in 1951 at Daniel McIntyre Collegiate until 1965. He also coached at Elmwood High School and River East High School until 1997. Through coaching he touched and inspired many lives and in 1998 he was inducted into the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame. The essence of John Potter is that he gave unconditional love to everyone he associated with and through this love brought joy to all who knew him. Special thanks to all the caregivers, nurses and Doctors in the Dialysis Unit and C.V.T. ward at St. Boniface Hospital. Mrs. Potter asks that all his former football players be named Honorary Pallbearers. Pallbearers will be his six grandsons. Prayers will be offered Friday, November 12 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, Munroe and Brazier. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 13 at St. Alphonsus . Interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Johns memory to the St. Boniface Hospital Research Foundation, 409 Tache Ave., R2H 2A6. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL in care of arrangements, 586-8044.
