CAROLE ROBERTSON (nee HOUSTON) Sadly, in the morning hours on November 11, 1999, Carole Patricia Robertson (nee Houston) lost a long hard battle and passed on. She is survived by her loving husband George; her two children, Dale and Dianna (John) Penner; her cherished grandchildren, Shawn, Michelle and Amara; her mother Alma and two sisters, Arlene and Wendy; her beloved "Patches," as well as many other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. Her father Orville passed away in the summer of 1986. A genuine "caretaker" not only for family, but for dozens of families children as well. Up until recently she had run a very successful day care business out of the home for a number of years. Carole took great pride and care in looking after the many young children on a daily basis, all of whom have grown and developed into wonderful people, and many who are still growing and will be touched forever by the love she provided. Carole enjoyed many activities especially spending time in her beautiful garden. An avid sports fan, especially of the Winnipeg Jets and Toronto Blue Jays, trips were taken to different cities in order to enjoy watching her favourite teams, as well as spending time traveling to the West Coast to visit her mother, son and two sisters. Born on December 23, 1940 in Winnipeg, Carole grew up in the rural Manitoba area of Starbuck and graduated from Starbuck High School in 1959. She met her future husband George in the fall of 1966 at the UNF hall on Main Street in Winnipeg. They were married on August 26, 1967. During the summer years between 1967 and 1985, every summer weekend possible was spent at the cabin in Falcon Lake, a great sanctuary to get away and enjoy the water and beach. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., R3C 2B7 and the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent Rd., R2L 1X3. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m, Wednesday, November 17 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment to follow. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
