FRANK SHERWOOD In the early morning hours of Saturday, November 13, 1999, very peacefully in his 89th year, Frank Sherwood was called Home by the Lord to rejoin his wife, Marguerite, his parents and his two sisters, Mary and Louise. Frank was a shining beacon and his loss leaves an enormous void in all our lives. He will be sadly missed by daughters, Yolande (Jacques Parent), Jacqueline (Lucien Mousseau), Rose-Marie (Michel Rochon), Yvette (Jean-Guy Fortin) and Collette (Barry Lobel) sons, Joseph (Beatrice Baudry) and Maurice (Anne-Marie Carriere) many grandchildren and their spouses as well as many great-grandchildren; sister Sarah; sisters-in-law, Bernie and Cecile; brothers-in-law Joseph and Paul. Frank truly had his own special brand of magic which touched everyone who knew him and loved him. We are thankful for his long life with us and at this difficult time, we rely on our faith in the Lord. We pray that Frank will find eternal rest and that Gods perpetual light will shine on him. We hope to honour him in death in the simple manner in which he chose to live his life. Although orphaned at the tender age of four, Frank cherished his mother who was taken away so early and he was extremely proud of his father James and his war service. Frank was very moved upon visiting his fathers resting place in Michigan. We take solace in the thought that Frank will now be able to comfort his parents for eternity. Frank was raised by his maternal grandfather in the St. Norbert area where he would later become a farmer and a contractor. He displayed rare physical strength and stamina, was always extremely independent, and firmly believed in self-reliance. He was a man of absolute integrity and Franks word was his bond. In school, Frank had proved to be a gifted mathematician and at age 14, was tutoring grade 12 students. His academic ambitions were curtailed by his duty to be the breadwinner but he made it a point of financially assisting his sister Sarah in completing her nursing training. Schooling for his children was also very important to him and even more so, family cohesion. He worked very hard to ensure that his children could take advantage of the opportunities they encountered. He was always very proud of his childrens and grandchildrens personal achievements. He respected all of his loved ones, always extending a warm welcome and honouring each persons individuality and personal worth. In turn, he instilled in them all the importance of doing well whatever was undertaken. His children and grandchildren have distinguished themselves in a wide variety of fields and pursuits. But, perhaps Franks most heartwarming quality will have been his infectious sense of humour and how he remained young-at-heart to the end. He was much more than just a father or a grandfather - he was for so many of us an adored friend and a trusted confidant. The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated in the Holy Family Parish Church, 778 Archibald St., St. Boniface, on Monday, November 15 at 2:00 p.m. preceded by viewing at 1:30 p.m. Father Ron Leger, Parish Pastor, will preside. Service will terminate at the church and, in keeping with Franks wishes, a private interment of the cremated remains will occur at a later date. Heartfelt thanks to the St. Boniface Hospital, Ward 5B medical and nursing staff for their devoted attention to our father. "Forget me not!"
