Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWALTER KIAZYK It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dearly beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Walter John Kiazyk. Walter passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 10, 1999 at the age of 79 years. Walter was born in St. Adolphe, Manitoba on December 2, 1919. His early life was spent working the land with his father and mother. Walter always had an affinity for the Earth. Even later in his life, he would pass many happy hours tending to his garden. He loved to see things grow. Walter and his wife established their home north of Winnipeg in 1946 after having been discharged from the army. There, his family grew to include nine children. He constructed two homes. His work life of 37 years was spent with Dominion Bridge as Construction Supervisor. Many of the steel bridges in Manitoba we cross, the larger steel buildings we enter, the sports venues we attend and the hospitals we frequent were all a part of his long building career. He was especially fond of the north where he built head frames, crushers, a smelter, a paper mill and bridges. It was in the north that he further developed a life long love of nature, fishing and hunting. Many of the friendships he made while working in the north, he maintained long after his retirement. We are very proud of all his accomplishments and it is in them that we will not forget his persevering spirit. Walter was an active member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed playing cards and participating in other activities with his seniors club. Walter spent many special occasions with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed travelling and going to football games with his wife. Walter is survived by his wife Jeanne Alice (nee Fleury) of 57 years; four sons and their spouses, Stan and Rachelle Kiazyk of Lorette, Orel Kiazyk and Wendy Anne Smith of West. St. Paul, Chris and Barb Kiazyk of Beausejour and Daniel and Kari Kiazyk of Minnedosa; four daughters, Mary Anne and Joe Nawrot of West St. Paul, Sophie Kiazyk of Garson, Andrea and Karl Jaek of Winnipeg and Karen and Don Kaatz of Garson; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was predeceased by his son Kevin and nine brothers and sisters. Walter loved his family with his whole heart and always encouraged them to love, do their best and to help others. He was very proud of their accomplishments. In accordance with Walters wishes, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at St. Theresas Parish, 3597 Main Street on Wednesday, November 17 and Vigil Prayers will be held on Tuesday, November 16 at 7:30 p.m. also at St. Theresas Parish with Monsignor Louis McCloskey officiating. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Donations in memory of Walter may be made to the St. Theresa Building Fund, 3597 Main Street, West St. Paul, MB R4A 5A2.
