MARY HNATIUK (BORSCH) It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our Mother and Grandmother, Mary, on November 11, 1999 at the Selkirk and District Hospital. She leaves to mourn her passing her daughter Verna (Don Bailey) and grandchildren, Donald (Alesia) and Lisa (Daniel Chaput) and son Lawrence (Paulette) and grandchildren, Michael and Lora and great-grandson Devin Hnatiuk. She is also survived by one brother Bill Borsch (Helen), Selkirk; a sister-in-law Kay Hnatiuk, Winnipeg and a brother-in-law Bill Hnatiuk (Rosalie), Calgary as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Mike in 1993; father Zachary in 1964; mother Ksenia in 1974; brother Mike in 1945 and sister Donna Tokar in 1991. Mary was born on March 10, 1909 and recently celebrated her 90th birthday with family and friends. In 1932 she married her husband Mike and resided and worked on the family farm in Kirkness, MB. In 1942 they moved to the Lower Fort Garry area where she devoted her life to being an avid gardener and homemaker. In 1991 they retired to the Knights Centre in Selkirk. Mother was an exceptional cook and was well known for her perishke. She had strong religious beliefs and was a member of the Holy Eucharist Parish. Prayers will be held at the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, 309 Eveline St., Selkirk, MB on Tuesday, November 16 at 7:30 p.m. Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 17 at the Holy Eucharist Church, corner of Sophia and Pacific in Selkirk with Father H. Olynyk officiating. Interment will follow at the Holy Family Cemetery, 4355 Main Street. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Donald Bailey and Michael Hnatiuk; nephews, Stan, Ron and Brian Hnatiuk and Lawrence Kosowan. We express our sincere "thank you" to Dr. R. Lindinschmidt and the entire staff of the medical ward at the Selkirk General for their devoted and kind care during Marys stay while in hospital.
