Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDONALD JOHN McINTYRE Peacefully with his family at his side, on November 10, 1999 at the St. Boniface Hospital, Don McIntyre, aged 76 years, of Selkirk, beloved husband of Bea (Still). Don was born in Rosetown, Saskatchewan on July 1, 1923. He served overseas with the Canadian Armed Forces during the Second World War. Upon his return he attended the University of B.C. and earned his Masters Degree in Science and was an Electrical Engineer. He worked for Calgary Power before moving to Winnipeg where he started his own business, Donald McIntyre Ltd., where he became extremely well known in the electrical industry. Don also raised, trained and raced his own horses at Assiniboia Downs. He enjoyed gardening, telling stories and spending time with his grandchildren. Besides his loving wife Bea, he leaves surviving sons, Mike (Sharon) of Spruce Grove, Alta., Donald (Rachael) of Winnipeg and Bill (fiancee Teresa) of Petersfield; daughters, Donna Carter (Doug) of Nanaimo and Susan Lechman (Ron) and Katherine McIntyre of Winnipeg; brothers, John of B.C. and Lloyd of Anchorage; a sister Nora Forrest of Calgary; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; Beas children, Pat (Bill) Wilkinson of Selkirk and Dave (Bonnie) Still of Winnipeg and her four grandchildren; also numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by two brothers, Mac and Gordon. A service of remembrance will be held on Tuesday, November 16 at 1:30 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel with Legion Padre Peter Cain officiating. Fellow members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 42, Selkirk will form a Guard of Honour and hold Legion Rites. Thanks to the nurses on 5E at St. Boniface Hospital and special thanks to nurse Linda, Dr. Stephen Henry and the St. Boniface Hospital Padre. Also special thanks to the Selkirk Home Care nurses who looked after Don before he went into the hospital, especially Diane Ostermann. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 102 - 310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 0S6, or the Kidney Foundation, 101 - 55 Donald St., Winnipeg, R3C 1H7.
