Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDICK ZACHARIAS November 5, 1924 - November 13, 1999 Suddenly at his home in Rosenort, with his wife at his side, Dick Zacharias, aged 75 years, went home to be with the Lord. Dad was born in Altona to Peter P. and Mary Zacharias. He was predeceased by his 13 year old son Wesley in 1963. Dad leaves to cherish his memory his dear wife Eleanor; three sons and three daughters; Richard (Donna) and their children Chris (Jana) and great grandchildren Raydan and Morgan, Marshall (Malynda), Tara (Chris Meilun), Sharalee (Ian Smith) Brenda (Norman Thiessen) and their children Renee (Chad Allan) and great grandchildren Mackenzie and Chase, Rochelle (Mike Bartlett), Alison, and Joel; Lloyd (Lorna), Lynsey and Stacey; Kel (Susan), Jill and Amy; Shan (Dan Eidse), Tyson, Molly, and Jonah; Holly (Cam Rowland), Harrison, and Tobin. Also left to mourn Dads passing is a large extended family (including John Penner), as well as hosts of friends, tenants, and business acquaintances. Dad met Mom in Rosenort. They were married on November 3, 1946. Dad was a faithful husband and Moms best friend. He will be missed more than words can say. Dad loved music, golfing, travelling, and long walks. Above all, he loved his family, and will be remembered as Cheerleader for his kids and grandkids. Dads involvement in his church and community was extensive. He served as a councillor for the R.M. of Morris, as director on the Eden Foundation Board of Directors, and a 25 year member of the Christian Businessmens Corporation (C.B.M.C.) He also served on the Board of Directors of the Morris Community Development Corporation and Rosenort Development Corporation. One of Dads first jobs was in the local cheese factory. He went on to found Dicks Construction, and in 1965, Rosenort Concrete. Dad was Deacon in the church, as well as a songleader, choir director, Sunday School teacher, and superintendent. Dad and Mom spent many hours in Bible Study and ministry to seniors. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Eden Foundation, Box 129, Winkler, MB. R6W 4A4. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday November 17 at 2:00 p.m. at the Rosenort Evangelical Mennonite Church, two miles south of Rosenort. Viewing will take place at the Rosenort Fellowship Chapel tonight, Tuesday November 16 from 7:30 - 8:30 p.m. Special thanks to the Rosenort First Responders, Morris Ambulance, and the staff of the Morris General Hospital for their compassionate care.
