COLIN BARTRAM KIDDELL Colin aged 77 years, passed away on Saturday, November 13, 1999 at the Grace Hospital. Colins honesty, his mischievous sense of humor and his deep concern for the welfare of others will be fondly remembered by his appreciative sons, John (Betty Anne), Doug (Jacqueline), Alan (Bonnie) and Rob (Selina) grandchildren, David and Kelly, Colin, Carly, and Cain, Kathryn, and Brook, and Devon, and cousins Jim (Robin) Kiddell. Anne (John) Hawkins of England and George Kiddell of Toronto, as well as numerous nieces and nephews across Canada. Colin was predeceased by his adored wife, Jean, and his older brother John. Colin was born in Meerut, India, and attended Felsted School in England where he was prefect and excelled in athletics and particularly shooting. After a year of modern languages and Law at Clare College, Cambridge, he joined the Army in 1941. As a lieutenant, he was a tank driver, an information officer, and a paratrooper before he was disabled by injury. Returning to Cambridge in 1947, he managed to obtain an MA in modern languages and an attractive young wife from Canada. Jean and Colin were in Partnership from then on. Colin taught at Dean Close School in England before spending three years in Pakistan from 1953 to 1956. After two years in the public system in England, he spent three years at Bisley Boys School before emigrating with the family to St.Johns-Ravenscourt, he was a French teacher boarding master, cadet corps leader, hockey and football coach before being appointed Headmaster Lower School in 1963. After a stellar career marked by Colins integrity, passion and loyalty, he retired in 1986. In retirement, he sat on the board of the Canadian Paraplegic Association and maintained his life long interest for learning in such areas as computers and ham radio. Memorial service will be held on Friday, November 19, at 11:00 Am. at St. Lukes Anglican Church, Nassau and Stradbrook with Reverend Robert Brownlie officiating. Flowers are gratefully declined.
