ANITA MARIE MEYER Peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer, Anita Marie Meyer passed away November 16, 1999 with her daughter, Debbie by her side. Anita leaves to mourn her passing, her mother Katherine; five siblings; numerous nieces and nephews and many, many friends. She was predeceased by her daughters, Kimberley Ann Meyer in December, 1984 and Beverley Dawn Meyer in October, 1970; and also by her best friend Sarah Fleury in October 1999. Anita had a very hard life and she didnt go down without a fight. She was a very kind and gentle lady who would help anyone in need. Born in Germany on November 3, 1943, Anita came to Winnipeg at the age of nine where she lived until her passing. She worked for the University of Manitoba until she retired in November, 1998. Anita looked forward to her retirement and was enjoying it until she was diagnosed with cancer in May, 1999. She did a great job raising her children on her own and her daughter Debbie is stronger because of her. Thank you to the Staff at Riverview Health Centre, Ward 3 East for the great care taken of Anita. A special thank you to Sonia Harder for everything she did for both Anita and Debbie; and also to Ellen and Carol for being good friends to Anita. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 20th at 11:00 a.m. from Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Highway 1 East at Navin Road. Cremation will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Anitas name to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R2L 1X3 or to the Manitoba Cancer Treatment and Research Foundation, 100 Olivia Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3E 9Z9.
