LOIS ARLENE LYON (KOLKE) November 29, 1933 - November 17, 1999 Lois passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer, her beloved husband Ken and family were at her side. Lois family was first and foremost in her life as a devoted loving wife of 45 years. She was always very proud of her three daughters, Susan (Bob) Johnson, Sally (Murray) Adamson, and Linda (Kelley) Coubrough. We feel extremely blessed to have had her as our wife, mother and grandmother. Her grandchildren, Quinn, Dane, and Vaughn Johnson, Katie, David and Carol Adamson, Jillian and Scott Coubrough have always received special attention from Grandma Lois. She loved to kick around the soccer ball, shoot a basket or two, play a game of cards, or just sit and talk with them. She was a great source of encouragement and love. She was always there for us in every possible way. Lois loved to travel with Ken and spent many fun times with her sister Audrey Christensen in Sun City, AZ and Brainard, MN. Day trips to her sister Elaine (Cecil) Bollmans home in Justice, MB; brother Ronald (Evelyn) Kolkes home in Paradise Village, MB, or golf and supper south of the Border were always great relaxation for her. Auntie Lois will be sorely missed by her nieces and nephews. She was a very compassionate and caring person. She cared for her parents with unconditional love and support until their death. Mom was the most special, dearest and treasured person in the world. No words can even describe the beautiful person she was and always will be. Although she is no longer with us, her loving memory and beautiful spirit will always live in our hearts. We will miss her warmth, her arms around us, her smile and her guidance, that filled us with love and comfort. She was our beloved, sweet angel. Lois was a devoted member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. She also held many positions of office with the Ladies Curling Club, Portage Golf Club, and Sorority group over the years. Lois passion was golfing. A quick 9 holes always made her day. Lois was predeceased by an infant son; her parents, Art and Julia Kolke; brother-in-law Art Christensen; mother and father-in-law, Archie and Madge Lyon; nephew Warren Kolke. As Lois requested, cremation will take place, with a memorial service to follow at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 20 - 12th Street N.W., Portage la Prairie at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 20th. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cancer Society of your choice, or the Portage and District Foundation, Inc. May God love, keep and bless you mom, for you are our dearest and closest friend. Arrangements are entrusted to Cropo Funeral Chapel, Winnipeg, 586-8044. Most of all the other things in life come by twos and threes, by dozens and hundreds. Plenty of roses, stars, sunsets, and rainbows, Brothers and sisters, aunts and cousins, but only one MOTHER in the whole world ... Susan, Sally and Linda XXX OOO
