Date of Passing: Nov 17, 1999
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN R. (JACK) WOOD October 1, 1905 - November 17, 1999 With great sadness we announce the passing of our much loved husband, father and grandfather at the Oakview Extendicare Home on Wednesday, November 17, 1999. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Vera; son Craig (Gail) daughter Myrna (John) grandchildren, Trent (Julie Sue), Susan (Brian), Jimmy; and many nephews and nieces. Dad was an extremely gifted athlete and played softball with the Uneeda Team in his earlier years and also bowled, golfed and curled. Dad was heavily involved in his later years with the Pembina Old Timers Golf and Curling Leagues and served in many capacities of both golf and curling. He was made an Honorary Life Member of the Pembina Old Timers Recreation Association in 1984. Dad was also extremely proud of his career with the T. Eaton Co. where he started working on New Years Eve, 1928 and continued working until his retirement on July 1, 1970. Dad often remarked that he was born the same year that Eatons started in Winnipeg. It is ironical that Dad passed away in the same year that Eatons in essence passed away. Dad was an extremely caring person and was always there for anyone at anytime. Dad you will forever remain in our hearts. Flowers gratefully declined. The family would also like to extend our deepest appreciation to all the staff at Oakview for their care and kindness to Dad, especially the staff on 1 North. A private service will be held at a later date. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
