Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY LEN It is with great sorrow we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Mary Len, on Wednesday, November 17, 1999. She died peacefully at the Winnipegosis General Hospital. Mary was born on December 7, 1910 in Winnipegosis, MB to Frank and Sophie Kruchek (nee Dyrkacz). She received her education in Winnipegosis and helped with the family farm until her marriage to William Gensisky on September 29, 1929. They raised three children, Rose, Lillian and Walter. On February 14, 1942 Mary was united in marriage to Thomas Len and they resided in Winnipegosis. Mary loved to bake and her door was always open for anyone to drop in for a visit and taste a new recipe she had found. Many happy hours were spent at the kitchen table talking to family and friends. She especially enjoyed visits from those who had come a long distance and shared stories of the good old times. Mary loved the outdoors, every summer was spent planting flowers and tending to her garden when she was able. She loved to sit outside and read her paper while enjoying the beauty and smells of the flowers around her. Another of her favourite pastimes was to knit and crochet, most visitors left with some kind of momento and all of her children and grandchildren have a cherished gift which she made, once she found out their favourite colours. She also had a great love of family, a wonderful sense of humour and there were always grandchildren and great-grandchildren running in and out of the house as well as their pets, Ben and Kristi who she always had a treat for. Due to ill health in February, 1999, Mary moved to the Marv Elks, where she continued to enjoy visits with family and friends. In October she was admitted to the Winnipegosis Hospital where she remained until her passing. Mary was also a faithful member of the Roman Catholic Church and in her early years she was organist in church, sang with the choir and helped with all church functions until her health failed. She leaves to mourn her family, daughter Rose Fleming (Clarence), son Walter Gensisky (Julie), sister Carrie Regan; grandchildren, Janine, Bill, Loretta, Greg, David, Louella, Raymond, Wanda, Carol and Lenny; great-grandchildren, Stacey, Kyle, Ryan, Danny, Coleman, Nolan, Roman, Taylor, Tiara and Kolby; sister-in-law Jean Kruchek; brother-in-law Bill Waters; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Mary was predeceased by her mother and father, Frank and Sophie Kruchek, first husband Bill Gensisky in 1938, second husband Thomas Len in 1988; sisters, Ann Bobinski and Nell Waters, brother Jack Kruchek; daughter Lillian Lytwyn (1982) son-in-law Josie Lytwyn and great-grandsons, Cory and John Parenteau. Prayer service was held on Friday, November 19 at 7:00 p.m. from the Sneath-Strilchuk Funeral Chapel. Funeral service was held on Saturday, November 20 at 10:30 a.m. from the Winnipegosis Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church. Rev. Mark A. Tarrant officiated and organist Olena Giggins led the congregation in the singing of the hymns. Interment followed in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were Greg Lytwyn, David Lytwyn, Scott Hafenbrak, Raymond Gensisky, Lenny Gensisky, Morris Parenteau and David Voigt. Should friends so desire, contributions in memory of Mary may be made to the charity of ones choice. The Sneath-Strilchuk Funeral Service had care of the arrangements.
