Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTHELMA MATHILDA STEG It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing away of Thelma, our loving mother, grandmother and sister on November 17, 1999 at age 75. Thelma was predeceased by her husband Art on August 28, 1993; her parents Mathilda and Reinhold Weiss; brother William and sister Mabel. She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, David and wife Wendy, Barry and wife Cindi; two precious grandchildren, Brent and Jena and their mother Josie; sisters, Elsie Beckstead, Anna Casper, Ruth (Art) Schwark; brothers, Tom (Cathie), Walter (Ruth), Archie (Jean), Clarence (Betty) sister-in-law, Anne Weiss, also in-laws of the Steg family and many nieces, nephews and friends. Thelma was born in Dominion City on May 1, 1924 and was raised in the area. She married Art in 1947 and they celebrated 46 years of marriage together. They farmed in the Ridgeville area and in 1963 moved to Ile de Chenes with their two sons. Her family was the most important thing in her life. She loved spending time with her sons and was a devoted and loving grandmother to Brent and Jena. She enjoyed visiting with her many brothers and sisters down home in Emerson and also in Alberta. Her church was always special to her and she rarely missed a Sunday unless she was feeling ill. Thelma was a very outgoing person. She will always be remembered as the Avon Lady in the Ile des Chenes area. Thelma had developed many friendships with loyal customers and neighbours as she delivered orders for over 30 years. She enjoyed spending time in her yard caring for her many flowers and manicuring her lawn, and could always be seen shovelling her driveway on the coldest, snowiest winter days. The family would like to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to Dr. Pacin and the wonderful nurses and staff at the Victoria Hospital. Special thanks to Pastor Fritsche and Pastor Long for their comfort and support. A memorial service will be held at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 1541 St. Marys Rd., Winnipeg on Monday, November 22 at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Fritsche officiating. Ash interment will follow in Emerson Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made in Thelmas name to the Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division or to the Beautiful Savior Lutheran Memorial Fund. Loewen Funeral Chapel of Steinbach in care of arrangements, 1-204-326-1351.
