Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryREGINALD SAMUEL CHARLES CRANE It is with sadness that we announce the death of Reginald Samuel Charles Crane who died peacefully on November 18, 1999 at the age of 93 at the Grace Hospital following a brief illness. Prior to moving to Winnipeg, Reg resided in Thunder Bay for over 80 years. Reg will be sadly missed by his wife of 66 years, Pearl (nee Ramsay of Fort William) and his son Larry, his wife Diana of Winnipeg, and their children, Brian and his wife Alexandrine, Allison and David; his son David and his wife Maureen of Burlington and their children, Andrew and his wife Tara, Jordan and Julie; his brother Thomas and his wife Anna; nephew Murray and his wife Sally; niece Maureen Wasky and her husband Ken, all of Thunder Bay, and nephew Sam and his wife Janice of Calgary. Reg was born in Bristol, England on November 8, 1906. He immigrated with his parents to Canada in 1911, settling in Fort William. Reg was educated and spent his working life in Thunder Bay, retiring as the electrical superintendent for the Fort William Elevator Company in 1971. After his retirement, he continued to work as a stationery engineer on a part time basis at St. Josephs Hospital and Lakehead University for many years. At age 65, Reg developed a keen interest in golf and curling which he pursued with enthusiasm until his 91st year. Reg was a pioneer aviator. He earned his pilots license at the Stevenson Air Field in Winnipeg in 1928. He was a founding member of the Thunder Bay Flying Club and was qualified as a commercial pilot. Reg enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout his life. He particularly enjoyed partridge hunting along the many trails of the Hymers area of Thunder Bay. Reg, with his father Sam and his brother Tom were members of the Masonic Lodge 415 in Thunder Bay and they attended lodge meetings together for many years. In his later years, Reg enjoyed visiting with his grandchildren in Winnipeg and in Hamilton. Reg will be deeply missed by his loving wife Pearl, to whom he was devoted. He had strong family values and supported his family in all their many endeavours. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 26 at 2:00 p.m. at Westworth United Church, 1750 Grosvenor Ave. at Lanark St., Winnipeg with the Reverend J. Clark Saunders officiating. Flowers are gratefully declined by the family.
