Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryADOLPH STEVEN HORBAS It is with deepest sorrow that the family announce the passing of Adolph Steven Horbas with his family by his side, on Sunday, November 21, 1999 in the Selkirk General Hospital. Adolph will be missed by his loving wife Victoria; sons, Dennis, Terry (Louise) of Winnipeg; daughters, Shirley (Brian) and Linda (Carl) of Hadashville, MB, Pat (Pete) of Winnipeg; step-children, Larry (Mary) of Birds Hill, MB and Lorraine (Dana) of Winnipeg; grandchildren, Sandy, Dale, Tanis, Stacey, Christina, Jennifer, Ryan, Murray, Crystal, Kenny and Kelly; great-grandchild Brandon and another expected in March 2000. He also leaves to mourn his brothers, Joe of Winnipeg, Gus of Libau, MB; sister Pauline of Winnipeg and mother-in-law Helen Slonowski of Dauphin, MB; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and most of all many, many good friends. Adolph was predeceased by his wife Helen in 1978; his parents, George and Marcella; siblings, Ignace, Gertrude, Emil, John, Edward, Molly and Julia. Adolph was born February 20, 1930 in Libau, MB. He married Helen in 1954 and together they raised five children. He was with Balcaen & Sons for 35 years until he retired in 1985. In 1981 he married Victoria Kachan and resided in Gonor, MB. Adolph was a very skilled and talented man who loved to work with his hands. He was always willing to lend a helping hand wherever needed. Adolph had many interests which included reading, farming with his John Deere Implements, short trips across the border, hunting and time at the cabin. He had many friends that gathered at his shop, dropping by for some advice or just to say hello. Adolph was a man of few words and many jokes. He was known to many as Chief. Honourary Pallbearers are Lorne Ewasko, Matthew Kachan, Herman Laskowich, Nick Samagalski, Gerry Hrabarchuk, Ed Horbas, Ernest Marcischuk and Dennis Rigey. Pallbearers are Harry Blacher, Eugene Feniuk, Emil Wishnowski, David Horbas, Archie McDonald and Mike Pachkowski. Prayers will be said on Wednesday, November 24 at 7:00 p.m. from Green Acres Funeral Chapel (Hwy. #1 East at Navin Road). The Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday, November 25 at 10:00 a.m. from Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church (corner of Watt and Munroe) with Rt. Rev. Msgr. G. Oucharyk and Rev. Deacon N. Kohuch presiding. Interment will follow in Green Acres Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2H8 or to a Charity of Ones Choice. Special thanks, to the Selkirk & District Ambulance Service, Dr. B. S. Bedi and the nursing staff at Selkirk General Hospital. Thank you Adolph for all your guidance, support and advice.
