DONALD WILLIAM SHOEMAKER May 5, 1955 - November 21, 1999 On November 21, 1999, after a lengthy battle with cancer, it is with great sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Don with his loving family at his side. Don, at the age of 44, leaves to mourn his loving wife Diane (nee Slavuta) sons, Daniel (Suzanne), Richard (Robyn) and David (Michelle) loving parents, Cal and Eileen Shoemaker; brothers, Monty (Linda), Ken, Randy, Rick and David; sisters, Barbara (Miles) and Cindy (David). Don also leaves to mourn his parents-in-law, Helen and Donald Slavuta; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and very special friends. Don was predeceased by his grandparents, Amos and Elizabeth Agar and Allan and Louetta Shoemaker. Don was a very special, kind, loving husband, father, brother, son and friend who was always there to share his knowledge, give a helping hand or lend an ear. We will miss your precious gifts so much. Don was a very artistic carpenter and a self-employed mechanic who specialized in Bob Cat skid steer repairs in his business. Don loved cooking, gardening, camping and travelling to Mexico. He was loved by all who came to know him. Funeral service to be held at his birthplace in Grandview, MB at the Grandview United Church on Thursday, November 25 at 1:00 p.m. The family would like to extend thanks to the staff at the Health Sciences Centre, St. Boniface Palliative care as well as the home care attendants. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Childrens Wish Foundation, 350 St. Marys Road, R2H 1J9.
