MINNIE CHASE (nee JANNETTA) July 28, 1932 - November 23, 1999 Minnie Chase, beloved wife and best friend of George; mother of daughter Penny Anderson and son George (Dianne) and Nanny to Lindsey, Laurie and Melanie Anderson and Kirk and Kaitlyn Chase passed away peacefully at the Grace Hospital on Tuesday, November 23. Minnie was predeceased by her parents, Salvatore and Assunta Jannetta and brothers, Anthony and James Jannetta. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law Jennie and Phil Faraci in Las Vegas; sisters-in-law, Frances Chase, Stella Fisher, Stella Jannetta and Betty Riel in Squamish, BC. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Minnie was born and lived for 35 years in the same house on Young Street in Winnipegs West End. She worked at Perths Cleaners before and for a short time after her marriage in 1954 and then became a full-time Mother. She loved her job and was exceptionally good at it. Minnie and her family moved to Valley View Drive in St. James-Assiniboia in 1967 where they made many friendships. Minnie was active in activities in which her children participated and was volunteer Canteen Director and Lunch Program Coordinator at Heritage Victoria Community Centre for many years. She was Heritage Victorias Volunteer of the Year in 1987. Minnie was proud of her Italian heritage. She was an exceptional cook and loved to cook for everybody. She excelled at Italian dishes. Just thinking about her raviolis, pizza, special potatoes, homemade bread and pies and tarts makes our mouths water! Minnie loved the Winnipeg Beach cottage as it gave her the opportunity to spend time with her cousins and friends. She especially loved the fun and companionship the girls had during their card games. Minnie loved everybody. She liked to brag about her family, especially Lindsey, Laurie, Melanie, Kirk and Kaitlyn and she often did. Our Mom called everyone "Sweetheart" and loved doing things for people. She taught us all how to Love each other. Well miss her, think of her often and love her always. Minnie Mouse, Mom, Nanny, you will always live in our hearts. Pallbearers are Bill Cameron, Willie Gutsche, Jim (Butch) Jannetta, Heather Ritchie, Anne Treleman and Bill Zack. Honourary pallbearers are Mary Cameron, Frances Chase, Stella Jannetta, Gloria Last, Connie Perrella and Frances Zack. Special thanks to Grace Hospital nurses and staff, especially those on the Palliative Care 4 North Ward, and to Dr. Schellenberg, a tremendously capable and caring person who has been so dedicated to our Moms care while she was ill.
