Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMATSUYO ABE NAKANO HAYASHI Matsuyo Hayashi died November 8, 1999, while fishing--an activity she enjoyed--on a beautiful day on the Winnipeg River, near Seven Sisters, MB. She was born December 12, 1912 in Cumberland, BC. She was the wife of the late Ken Hayashi. They resided in Winnipeg since 1948. She was the mother of Julian, Toshio, Teruo, Lillian Marsano, and Jim; grandmother of Julian Louis, Emily, Yuki, and Taffee and great-grandmother of Draven Alexander. Her greatest enjoyment came in caring for her large backyard garden, hunting for fall Matsutake mushrooms, picking blueberries, fishing, and tramping in the woods. She was active until the day of her death. She was a whirlwind in the kitchen and could quickly cook a multi-course Japanese meal and say, "Oh, its nothing really." She was the emotional bedrock of the family; and had a deep abiding interest and love in the lives of her four sons and daughter. She will be missed by all. There was a private funeral service and interment at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens on November 15. The assisting clergyman was Rev. Yoshi Masaki of Knox Japanese United Church.
