Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPAUL WASIK It is with deepest sorrow that the family announces the passing of Paul Wasik, on November 24, 1999, beloved husband of Margaret Wasik, at the Concordia Hospital, at the age of 78 years. My husband and our father, grandfather, great-grandfather and dear friend was born on September 9, 1921 in Hazelridge, MB and raised in Cloverleaf, MB. Our father met our mother, Margaret, on her 20th birthday April 20, 1943, on Portage Avenue in Winnipeg, where they would become life-long companions in marriage on April 7, 1945. Paul served in the Canadian Army for 42 months and was stationed in Debert, Nova Scotia. After the war, Paul fulfilled his life-long ambition of becoming a skilled carpenter. Paul was not only a self-employed carpenter building rec rooms and cottages, but also along with his sons formed a steel grain silos construction business named Wasik Construction. Paul will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends for his long lectures, gracious manner, sincerity and good humour. Paul leaves to cherish his memory and craftsmanship, his loving wife, Margaret of 54 years; his 10 children, Beatrice, Ken (Cindy), Leonard (Linda), Melvin, James, Terry, Alan, Marjorie (Brian), Wendy, Russell; grandchildren, Lonnie, John, Kristie, Melissa, Vanessa, Samantha, Margie; and six great-grandchildren; and Pauls sister Anne Chunmara. Our father was predeceased by his sister Nettie in 1971; father Steven in 1972; mother Anne in 1973; brothers, Joe in 1989 and Harry in 1997. The Wasik family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at Concordia Hospital and a warm thank you to Linda Wazny at the Concordia Hospital Day Care Centre as he enjoyed those "get-togethers" so much, with all his friends and neighbours. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 26 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1858 Portage Ave. Funeral service will take place on Saturday, November 27 at 1:30 p.m., also in the chapel at 1858 Portage Ave. Interment will follow at Garry Memorial Park, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. In lieu of flowers, remembrance of our father Paul may be sent to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2H8.
