WILLIAM RICHARD JONES Peacefully, with his family at his side, our beloved father and grandfather, William Richard Jones, passed away at 66 years of age. He leaves behind to cherish his memory three daughters, Lucinda Anne (Richards), Patricia Gayle (Kidd), Dianna Lynn (Zyloway), and one son, Richard William Jones; grandchildren Laurie, Kelvin and William, Theresa and Julie, Wesley and Kathleen. Bill was predeceased by his father Richard in 1937, an infant daughter, Kerry Dawn in 1961, his stepfather Roy Webster in 1983 and his mother Rose in 1993. He was the only child born to Richard and Rosemund Jones of Crystal City, on the seventh of February, 1933. His father was taken from him by pneumonia in 1937 and in 1942, Rose married Roy Webster of Snowflake, where they farmed the Webster homestead at 25-2-10. Bill attended public school in Crystal City, Pilot Mound, Starmound and LaRiviere. Bill left school and worked on the farm for a number of years, then later for Cliff Jones at his garage in LaRiviere, (Now Eds Service), where he met his future wife, Gladys. They were married in 1955 and settled in LaRiviere, where they had and raised three daughters and one son. Bill and Gladys moved to Manitou in 1982 and resided there until 1990, when Bill moved to Winkler and Gladys remained in Manitou. Bill remained in Winkler, employed by Monarch Industries until his retirement in 1997. Dad thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing the valley around LaRiviere, and spending time with his children and grandchildren whenever he could. Bill was from the old school, placing the value of friendship and goodwill towards others above all else and he will be sadly missed, but always remembered, by his family and friends. Thanks to the staff of Morden Hospital and of Riverview Medical Center in Winnipeg, with special thanks to nurses Cheryl (Curly), Marlene, and Diane of the 3rd floor, East wing of Riverview Med. Center for their compassion and care during Dads final days among us. A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 3 at the family plot in LaRiviere Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. All are welcome. Donations can be made in his memory to the Canadian Cancer Society.
