JOHN WILLIAM MADILL It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather on Wednesday, November 24, 1999, surrounded by loved ones, at the age of 75 years. Left to cherish his memory, his loving wife Gail (Shortreed) daughter Karen (Karl) Lajeunesse Jungkind, son Mitch (Jayne) Madill and daughter Terris (Dave) Smith. He will also lovingly be remembered by his five grandchildren, Andrea Lajeunesse Jungkind, Lance and Terra Smith and Christy and Sarah Madill. He is also survived by three brothers, Bill, Ralph and Don. Born in Rainy River, ON on October 12, 1924, he grew up in Fort Frances. He began his career with the C.N.R. in Winnipeg in 1940, and served with the Royal Canadian Navy until the end of the war. He was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion (Norwood Branch). After his marriage to Gail in 1947, they moved to Fort William, ON for 17 years and was transferred to Atikokan, ON for eight years and then to Winnipeg where he retired in 1981. He joined the Masonic Lodge in Fort William and was active in Atikokan and subsequently joined Khartum Temple in Winnipeg. He was a proud founding member of the mighty Fife and Drum band of which he was president in 1995. After his retirement, he enjoyed curling, swimming, biking, gardening and most of all his relationships with family and friends. His sense of humour and outgoing personality was shared with everyone he met throughout his entire life. Special thanks to Dr. Brandes and the staff at Health Sciences Centre and Dr. Daeninck and staff at the St. Boniface Hospital. At his request, cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, November 30 at Springs of Living Water Church at 595 Lagimodiere Blvd. (at Patterson), with Pastor Cam Fontaine officiating. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations can be made in Johns memory to the Shrine Burn Fund or Canadian Cancer Society. Fontaines Funeral Service in care of arrangements; 229-3675.
