ROLAND MICHAEL JOHN FRIESEN It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Roland Michael John Friesen Junior, on Wednesday, November 24, 1999 at Poseidon Central Park Lodge with his loving family at his side. Left to cherish his beautiful memory are his loving wife Lu Walker Friesen and children, Trina Walker Preddie (Colin) and Jason Walker; his mother Florence Friesen; his sisters, Linda Anderson (Tim) of Calgary; Patricia Toone (John) nieces and nephews, who loving referred to Rollie as their favourite "Unc," Brandon Anderson (Kathryn) of Houston, Texas, Joy and Lindsay Anderson of Calgary, Jennifer Toone of Toronto, Caslyn Bonnefoy (Robert) and John Toone Jr. of Winnipeg; grandsons, Mikail and Jason Preddie of Toronto. Rollie was predeceased by his father Roland H. Friesen, Sr. Family and friends will sadly miss him. Rollie was born on September 30, 1951 in Winnipeg. He grew up in St. Vital and attended Windsor School and then went on to Glenlawn Collegiate, graduated from the University of Winnipeg (United College) and studied commerce at the U. of M. He was an active member of the community and an avid hockey player and golfer. Rollie played hockey for the Windsor Community Club and was a member of the All-Star Team. He also participated in Juvenile Hockey. Rollie was an enthusiastic golfer and won the Provincial Junior Championship at Niakwa Golf and Country Club in 1970. He was an active member and enjoyed the festivity of the Tuesday Night Mens Golf League. Like his father, Rollie enjoyed socializing and entertaining and loved to spend time with all the children in his family, especially the grandchildren. Rollie was the president of Bonita Land & Development Ltd. and active in the real estate market in Winnipeg. The family wishes to express special thanks to Dr. P. Riordan, Dr. B.A. Gorski, Rose Plesko, Bea Desaultels and Suzie Deacon; also for the care and loving support of the management and nursing staff at the Poseidon Central Park Lodge. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rollies memory to Child Find. In accordance to the familys wishes, cremation has taken place at Green Acres Crematorium and a private service was held at the Niakwa Country Club on Saturday, November 27.
